Transport Manager
Location: Gloucestershire
Profile: Permanent opportunity with established company.
Salary: circa £25000 per annum
Qualifications: HGV qualification an advantage
The Transport Manager will manage a team of drivers and will be responsible for all transport operations of the company; collaborating with the sales and buying departments to ensure all deliveries reach their destinations on time and in line with the customer’s expectations.
Key Tasks:
*Responsible for delivering the correct products in the right quantities, to the accurate locations, in the agreed timeframe, in line with the customers’ needs.
*Operational Management of the transport department, managing a team of drivers and vehicles. Responsible for all of the dispatching, routing, and tracking of delivery vehicles.
*Dispatching complex and oversized goods ensuring they reach their destinations, safely.
*Ensuring company compliance of all transport policies, legislation and procedures to do with tachograph.
*Ensuring fleet vehicles are properly maintained and serviced.
*Recruitment, induction and training of all drivers and staff
*Maintaining accurate administrative records
*Identifying operational issues, potential problems and opportunities
*Resolving and managing queries and complaints courteously and efficiently.
*Appraising staff performance and taking disciplinary measures when required.
*Succession plan for all situations to maintain the smooth running of the transport department
*Arranging loads and drivers routes on a daily basis in line with the customers’ needs and demand, communicating with customers on their delivery times and schedules
*Arrange security spot checks on all dispatch vehicles
*Responsible for confirming loads correctly through the IT system
